  • Product gives 1 to 3 years weather protection.
  • Product initially has high gloss but will flatten to a brownish black color.
  • Excellent adhesion to all fence surfaces, can be applied over creosote and CCA salt treated lumber.
  • Can be used as a base coat for Premium Asphalt Aluminum. Coat first with Black Asphalt and follow with Premium Asphalt Aluminum at least 4 hours later.
  • Clean up with mineral spirits.
  • Product viscosity varies with temperature.

Shelf Life

2 years in unopened cans. To maximize shelf life, store out of direct sunlight. Product will not be affected if stored below 32°F.

Coverage

3 & 4 board fence: 12 ft. / gal., both sides

1 board fence: 28 ft. / gal., both sides

Flat Surfaces: 125 sq. ft./gal.

Coverage depends on many factors such as porosity and roughness of the substrate and material losses during application. Using less material than recommended will see a decrease in durability. May require two coats for best results.

Drying Time @ 77°F / RH 50%

Set to touch: 24 hour

Re-coat: 24 hours

Fully dry: product will continue to gain hardness for several weeks after application.

Drying times are affected by rain, dew, and temperature. Do not paint if rain is expected within 8 hours.

Recommended Film Thickness

Wet film – per coat: 8.0 to 12.0 mils

Application

Product should be thoroughly mixed before use. No thinning needed – if necessary, thin with 4 fl. oz. mineral spirits per gal. paint.

Warning: product is combustible and will burn. Use only UL listed heating equipment.

Application temperature: above 40°F

Method: Brush, roll, or spray

Allow new wood 1 to 3 months to weather to reduce moisture content. Do not paint the underside of fence planks.

Airless spray:

  • Rating 0.5 gallons / minute minimum
  • Pressure: 1,800-2,500psi
  • Filter: None
  • Tip Size: 0.025″ to 0.031″

 

Roller application: use thick nap 7” roller.

Fence Preparation

For greatest durability make sure surface is scraped, sanded, or pressure washed thoroughly by removing any peeling or flaking paint before applying. For metal surfaces, ensure surface is clean.
