Application & Use

Coverage

3 & 4 board fence: 16 ft. / gal., both sides

1 board fence: 26 ft. / gal., both sides

Barns: 250 sq. ft. / gal.

Coverage depends on many factors such as porosity and roughness of the substrate and material losses during application. Using less than recommended material will lead to decreased durability. May require two coats for best results on previously unpainted surfaces.

Dry Time

Set to touch: 1 hour

Re-coat: 4 hours

Fully dry: 24 hours

Drying times are affected by rain, dew, and temperature. Do not paint if rain is expected within 8 hours.

Recommended Film Thickness

Wet film – per coat: 3.5 to 6.0 mils

Dry film – per coat: 1.5 to 2.5 mils

Application

Product should be thoroughly mixed before use. No thinning needed – if necessary, thin with 4 fl. oz. mineral spirits per gal. paint.

Application temperature: above 40°F

Method: Brush, roll, or spray

Allow new wood 1 to 3 months to weather to reduce moisture content (less than 15% recommended). Do not paint the underside of fence planks.

Airless spray:

  • Rating: 0.5 gallons / minute minimum
  • Pressure: 1,800-2,500psi
  • Filter: 30 to 60 mesh
  • Tip Size: 0.017″ to 0.025″

Surface Preparation

For greatest durability make sure fence is scraped, sanding, or pressure washed thoroughly by removing any peeling or flaking paint before applying. For metal surfaces, ensure surface is clean.
